A cyber café owner has been detained by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) allegedly for his terror links as investigation into the arrest of 14 terror suspects continues. The earlier arrested suspects used to access internet from his café, police said.

The person in question is identified as Syed Omer who owns a cyber café at JC Nagar. He was picked up for questioning by CCB officials who confirmed the detention, but Bangalore police refused to do so.

The police had a link that some of the terror suspects who were arrested in Bangalore used to access internet from Omar’s cyber cafe and the police want to ascertain whether he was aware of their terror plot.

Last month, the police had arrested 14 people from Bangalore, Hubli and Hyderabad on the charges of plans to execute terror activities. The arrested include a doctor, junior research fellow with the DRDO and a reporter with a Bangalore based English daily

The police had said that in Bangalore, two of the suspects were arrested while they were waiting outside his residence to kill a noted journalist who writes anti-minority column. The suspects arrested from Hubli had been given the task of eliminating a Hindutva leader, police claimed.
